It is hard to believe that this will be the second last newsletter for the year, 2019 has just flown by.
I even have less time than everyone else as I will be taking Long Service after Friday the 13th of December. Unfortunately I will miss the end of year celebrations but I know the school will be left in good hands as Amanda Lloyd will act as Principal in my absence and she will be supported by the rest of the Leadership Team.
Reports and Meet 2020 Teacher
Reports will go home on Thursday 12th December. The report envelope will also include levy information and classes for 2020.
Prior to reports going home, students will spend the afternoon in their 2020 classes. This opportunity to meet their teacher and class mates helps to ease apprehension and supports a positive transition. Please note, that some students can feel sad about being in a new room with new students, however, as parents we need to acknowledge their feeling and at the same time build resilience by highlighting the positives. We hope that all parents support the placement of their child and know that all students will be taught by professional teachers who care deeply for each child’s education, safety and happiness. Teachers have spent many hours forming the 2020 classes ensuring each student has at least one nominated friend and that each class is well balanced to support learning for all students. Once these decisions have been made it makes it very difficult to alter and due to this we will be unable to make changes.
Our Shining Stars
Between the 16th and 23rd November, 6 of our students were successful in their auditions to become cast members in the Burnie Musical Society’s Little Mermaid.
I interviewed the girls on their experience.
Why did you try out?
Abigale (a prawn and a lily pad): My Mum was in Annie and I thought it would be good as well.
Ava T (butterfly and a prawn): Good for something to do and also a fun opportunity.
Molly (butterfly and jelly fish): My sister was in Peter Pan and I went and watched. I saw how much fun she had and thought I’d do it too.
Amarli (octopus and frog): I went with a friend and thought it would be a new fun thing to do.
Daniella (wings and princess): Ava told me about it. I’ve always wanted to be an actress.
Ava O (dancer- water and Ursula’s tentacles): My Mum told me about it. I didn’t want to go on my own so I got Daniella to come. I like to do dramatic things.
What was your favourite part?
Abigale: I enjoyed being on stage.
Ava T: I was excited about opening night but was a bit nervous.
Molly: I liked when school came and watched and everyone was waving at me but I couldn’t wave back.
Amarli: The finale was the best as everyone was in it.
Daniella: I like being with friends and everyone was so nice. I liked having an audience too.
Ava O: I liked seeing all the little kids’ faces light up.
Would you recommend it to other?
All girls agreed that they would recommend it to others as it was fun, a one-time experience and you spend a lot of time but feel proud at the end.
