Somerset Primary students in Grades 3/4 and 5 were very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Jon Madin during their music lessons on Friday 7 June.  Jon’s arrangements for Marimba feature in the music program thatour Grade 3-6 students engage with, so it is always exciting to meet the composer. Jon and his whacky instruments last visited SPS in 2017 so his return was met with excitement and intrigue at the new whacky instruments he brought with him.

Favourites included the musical bikes and the farty pumpers!

A whole school concert was held at the end of the day with those classes who had worked with Jon during workshop sessions presenting two songs each. 

Our students had a fantastic time—you might be hearing stories at home of the whacky instruments they played during Music—and their participation, perseverance and demonstration of STAR Rules is a credit to our Somerset Primary School community.
